Our Confirmation Candidates participated in the 10th Annual Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage in Wilmington on Saturday. Please pray for our candidates as they continue on their journey of faith.
The Brother Vincent Knights of Columbus sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 14th, following our 10:30 am Mass. This was a fun activity for children of all ages!
On Sunday, April 14, our parish commemorated Christ’s triumphant entry in Jerusalem. Palm Sunday of the Passion of Our Lord marks the beginning of Holy Week. Our Church was magnificently decorated to honor our Savior.
Lent is a special time when we share the concepts of prayer and stewardship giving. During the season of Lent, our Parish School of Religion had an opportunity to take part in a special program of Lenten outreach. By participating in it, our students put into practice one of the Corporal Works of Mercy – feeding the hungry.
On an assigned date during Lent, each student brought in a food item to be donated to the Smyrna-Clayton Food Pantry. The children gathered together for an Almsgiving Prayer Service during which time they handed in their food donation. To make this activity as meaningful as possible, students were encouraged to use their own money to purchase the food.
On February 24th, the Archives of the Catholic Diocese presented a special exhibit in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Wilmington. The exhibit featured dozens of items and documents going back to the 1600s when the first Catholic Europeans arrived in present-day Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Thank you to parishioner, Linda Ecker for attending and sharing these pictures with us.
