News from the Diocese

OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS

Rev. James Hreha is appointed pastor of St. Dennis, Galena, MD., effective Sept. 8. This appointment is in addition to his ministry as pastor of St. Polycarp Parish, Smyrna.

Seminarian Adam Bauer

Adam Bauer has been accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Wilmington. He will be attending St. Mary’s Seminary (Baltimore) in the fall. We rejoice with his parents, Bob & Nancy, who nurtured his vocation in their domestic Church and we are thankful to them for the gift that they have fostered in his soul.

While Adam has been part of our community as an Altar Server and Knight of Columbus, he will be more visible in our parish as the months and years progress. This summer he will be present at Masses, meetings and around the Campus doing many and varied tasks.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Hail Mary full of grace

Chrism Mass April 10 2017

At this Mass Bishop Malooly blessed the three oils which are used in the year ahead throughout our diocese in the administration of sacraments.
Between the the doors at the main entrance to the Church you will see a small cabinet called an ambry.  This houses the vessels containing the three types of blessed oils.
1. Oil of the catechumen – used to bless and strengthen those preparing for baptism
2. Oil of the sick – used for annointing of the sick
3. Sacred Chrism – used at Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders
