DO YOU KNOW YOUR FAITH? What candle is lit from the new light at the Easter Vigil, remains lit through the Easter Season and then is lit only at Baptisms and Funerals?
ANSWER: .The Paschal Candle
The Paschal Candle symbolizes “the light of Christ rising in glory, which dispels the darkness of our mind and hearts”.
Symbols on the candle include:
The Cross represents Christ’s sacrifice and victory over death, a symbol of hope and salvation.
The Alpha and Omega (first and last letters of the Greek alphabet): Rooted in the book of Revelation 21:6, where Jesus says, “I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end”.
Numerals for the current year: God is here with us today
5 Grains of incense embedded in the candle represent the 5 wounds of Christ.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR FAITH? What is the Easter Triduum?
ANSWER: The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ’s Paschal Mystery.
The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:
- Mass of the Lord’s Supper
- Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion
- Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord

The Boy from Milan, a powerful new documentary from the Augustine Institute about the life of Blessed Carlo Acutis, is now available on Formed! It’s easy to think that sainthood is reserved for the few, or that it’s only possible for those living extraordinary, newsworthy lives. But though he lived a seemingly ordinary teenage life, Blessed Carlo was a radically holy young man. He loved the Eucharist more than anything and used his God-given gifts to evangelize online and face to face. Blessed Carlo’s life proves that holiness is for everyone—right here, right now.

TECHNOLOGY WHIZ KID HEADED FOR SAINTHOOD – APRIL 27, 2025 – FIRST MILLENNIAL SAINT: The red polo shirt. The backpack. The computer. That’s how most people picture Blessed Carlo Acutis—a technology whiz kid who harnessed the power of the internet to show people the truth of the Real Presence and bring them closer to God. But that’s just one part of the story. Blessed Carlo’s radical love for the Eucharist drove everything he did. Friends spent hours on the phone with him, captivated by his joy. People returned to the sacraments because of his witness. And when he met someone in need, he didn’t just offer food—he sat with them, listened, and shared what he had. His faith wasn’t just a private devotion—it changed lives. It’s still changing lives today. Let his life inspire yours. Watch the trailer for The Boy from Milan and encounter the profoundly compassionate heart of Blessed Carlo Acutis. Hear stories from those closest to him as they share how an ordinary boy’s extraordinary love drew hearts to God. https://formed.org/the-boy-from-milan#trailer

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD: Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month during the 10:30 am Mass. This is a wonderful opportunity for children in PreK-4th grade. It mirrors the worship experience of the larger community in an engaging and interactive style. They will listen to Scripture and engage in discussions about what they have heard at their age level. Children will be called forward before the First Reading and will return to you after the General Intercessions. Our lead catechist is Anna Skinner. She, along with her assistants, have cleared background checks.
THE FACILITIES PLANNING COMMITTEE meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the hall. We are looking for parishioners with backgrounds in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and other construction expertise needed for our project. If God has blessed you with a gift you can share, please contact John Irwin, Executive Officer of Facilities Planning at 740-317-3617.
GLUTEN FREE? Do you have an intolerance to gluten? If so, our parish offers gluten-free wafers to be consecrated for you. Please see our Sacristan 10 – 15 minutes before Mass and let them know that you need a gluten-free wafer put in the pyx. At Communion, please proceed down the aisle to the priest who will have the pyx in his hand and let him know you need a gluten-free host.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR FAITH? What is the Annunciation of the Lord?
ANSWER: The Annunciation of the Lord highlights Mary’s “Yes” to the message and her acceptance of the message given to her by the Archangel Gabriel that she will bear a son. “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,* and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1:26-38 https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/1
Mary agreed to cooperate with God’s plan even if she did not fully understand how she, without having any relations with a man could have a child. The answer is Trust God! Mary is the model of the woman who said yes to God. She cooperated with God’s plan even if she did not understand it. Do you trust God?
