If you have never been to the burning of the Palms, make sure you come next year! How Spirit filled to see our palm become ashes for Ash Wednesday. (Click on image to see larger view.)
St. Polycarp Ministry Fair was held after Masses on February 10th and 11th in Mother Drexel Hall. Representatives of our many ministries, organizations and committees were represented. Parishioners stopped by to see and learn about the growing number of service opportunities available. All parishioners are encouraged to become involved in service to others as we continue to build the Kingdom of God here at St. Polycarp Church. Click on image to view larger picture. Our Annual Parish Appreciation Party was held, Saturday evening, February 3, 2018. Anyone active in a Church organization or serves in any ministry was invited to attend. The evening began with appetizers, followed by a delicious dinner catered by Smyrna Diner. We enjoyed the beautiful voice of Cindy Shields – also known as “Patsy Cline”. Of course, as always here at St. Polycarp, there were plenty of wonderful desserts! The hall looked beautiful! Thank you to the event planners and everyone who helped make this such a wonderful evening! And to all who serve here at St. Polycarp, you are wonderful examples of putting faith into action. We thank you and may God bless you for all you do. (Click on images to enlarge.) Make sure you check out the video at the bottom of the page!
Thank you parishioners, Knights of Columbus, Columbiettes, members of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdeP), and everyone else who helped SVdeP provide a Christmas meal for 77 families in the Smyrna-Clayton community. SVdeP Vincentians (members) were able to deliver 62 turkeys, 11 hams, a chicken and 37 food gift cards. Thanks to a grant from WBOC’s “Bless Our Children”, we also gave 68 Walmart gift cards to children in need.
Each year the cost of putting food on the table and paying the bills becomes harder to bear. It is only through the generosity of our parishioners and other benefactors that we can help our neighbors meet these obligations. Our overhead is very low; about 97% of the contributions SVdeP receives go to the clients’ assistance. If you or someone you know in our community needs assistance, please contact SVdeP: 302-264-6630 (cell.)
