Finance Council
Mission Statement
We, the members of the Finance Council of St. Polycarp Parish, recognizing that God requires us to act as good stewards of the treasure He generously provides to our Parish, humbly, and prayerfully, offer our gifts of time and talent to our Parish Community and Pastor as counselors in matters of Parish finances. Our mission is to maintain an ongoing financially sound Parish environment that supports all of the Parish ministries in their work, facilitates the achievement of the Parish mission, and provides ongoing financial guidance to the Parish Leadership.
What We Do
Finance Council is an advisory, yet collaborative body that helps fulfill the Parish’s mission.
Non-inclusive, we oversee, review and approve the Parish annual budget and annual financial reporting to the Diocese; ensure effective internal controls, and the completeness of bookkeeping and accounting records; comply with Diocesan financial policies, procedures and reporting; monitor the timeliness of deposits of Parish monies, monitor investments in realizing an acceptable return on surplus funds; develop and maintain a long-range financial plan; and, support stewardship and fundraising.
Membership
Council members are typically blessed with compentencies that may include financial acumen, analytical thinking, strong communications, integrity and ethical judgment, strategic planning, marketing, advertising, fundraising, collaboration, and teamwork. Many other skill sets are beneficial in fulfilling the Parish and Council missions, and all are welcome.
