Message from the Community Food Pantry

Message from the Community Food Pantry
We are writing to you to give you an update on the Community Food Pantry. As you know, the pantry relies on the Ministerium and the community for support. We run food drives, get donations from schools and churches, and everything we receive goes directly to the Food Pantry. In addition to the food we collect we now pass out hats, gloves, scarves and coats that have been collected by students from Smyrna High School. Our giving community is so very generous.

We have a food pantry with a growing number of families in need. We have had an increase in recipients from families, singles and homeless. As our pantry grows so is the need for volunteers.
We are writing to you specifically because we are in need of more help. Our volunteers pack food orders daily. We receive these orders from Social Services. Volunteers also pick up food from WaWa daily and bring it to the pantry to be put in the freezers. This all takes place anywhere from 9a – 11a Monday thru Friday. We run food drives during the year that we need help with collecting, sorting, and shelving food items.

We are also looking for volunteer Food Pantry Coordinators. The Coordinators are responsible for finding and scheduling volunteers, setting up food drives, helping with donations and keeping up with the pantry needs. Patti Tigani and I have been running the pantry for over 8 years and we feel it is time to pass on this responsibility. We feel there is more need for community involvement.

We know many people cannot volunteer because they work during the day, so please consider donating or having a food drive.

 If you know of anyone who is interested in volunteering please call or email;
Brenda Russillo (302) 359 – 8488                   rrussillo16@comcast.net

Thank You,
Blessings and Peace,
Brenda Russillo
Patti Tigani
