IMPORTANT REMINDERS: When receiving the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, please consume the Eucharist in front of the Priest, Deacon, or Eucharistic Minister prior to stepping away. It is not permitted to walk away with the Blessed Sacrament, take it back to your pew or leave Church with Jesus in your hand. When approaching the altar to receive Holy Communion, please approach with reverence (folding hands and being in a prayerful mode) and after receiving the Sacrament. Remember, it is the Body and Blood of Jesus that you just received.

MOVIE NIGHT: Tomorrow, Saturday, June 14^th, the Christian Formation Committee will be showing a short film entitled The Most Motivating Talk You’ve Ever Heard by Fr. Mike Schmitz. BLESSING OF FATHERS will take place this weekend at the 4 pm Mass on Saturday, June 14^th and at the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday, June 15^th.

VOCATION CHALICE MINISTRY: Sunday, June 15^th, The Morales Family will receive the Vocation Chalice at the 10:30 am Mass. The Vocation Chalice encourages individuals and/or families to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and consecrated life. MARRIAGE ANNULMENTS: The Tribunal Marriage Annulments – A Ministry of Healing. Tribunal Advocates are appointed by the Bishop to assist divorced parishioners with the marriage annulment process. You are invited to come to the parish meeting room #7 (please ring the bell under the portico, near the office/chapel door) on Monday, June 16^th from 6-7 pm to meet our Tribunal Advocates and to learn about this opportunity of healing. All are welcome!

An annulment of a marriage is a decision by a church court, that a putative marriage was not valid from the start because something was lacking: full knowledge and consent by both parties, freedom from force or grave fear, or some other factor needed for a valid marriage. The Tribunal assists divorced people who petition for an investigation of their prior marriage(s). Today the Diocesan Bishop receives requests to examine the validity of marriage according to the Code of Canon Law. The Tribunal appointed by the Bishop accepts petitions for nullity, gathers testimony, and renders decisions according to the universal law and procedures of the Catholic Church. Either the marriage will be upheld as valid and binding, or it will be determined that no sacramental marriage bond existed due to certain conditions which render the marriage null. Regardless of the final decision, the tribunal investigation process is an opportunity for participants to experience healing and reconciliation with God and the faith community.

NEXT WEEKEND, June 21/22 (and Monday, June 23^rd– Saturday, June 28^th )

POLYCARP SQUIRE CIRCLE LOCK IN: Once again, this year, the Squires are conducting a “Lock In”. On June 27^thand June 28^th, the Squires will be here at the Parish from 7 pm on Friday until 7 pm on Saturday. The Lock In will conclude with the 4 pm Mass to celebrate and install the new officers for the Columbian year. During these 24 hours, our Squires will participate in prayer, teamwork, and leadership activities. A Rosary will be said in the chapel at least five times, and at 3:20 pm in the Church before 4 pm Mass. Each Rosary will be said for the following worthy causes: pro-life and protection of our unborn, vocations, men and women of our Armed Forces, St. Polycarp parishioners, and our youth. Please remember our Squires in your prayers as they gather for this annual event. The Squires are young boys and young men (ages 10 -18) who desire to deepen their appreciation and love of the Catholic Church. This unique group of Squires is called “Circle”. The Squires work with the Knights of Columbus.

2025 FAITH AND CHARITY CATHOLIC APPEAL
Did you know that the Faith and Charity Appeal helps support Pre-Cana marriage preparation and family life ministries, helping couples and families grow in love and faith?

The work of the Church needs you. Only 1 in four households has responded to the Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal. Let’s grow that number together. Not everyone can give a large gift, but everyone can participate. We are still $6,138.34 short of our goal of $61,500 in pledges. When our parish reaches its goal in money collected, we receive back half of the money collected over the goal which we can use for our parish. So far, $33,689.64 has been collected.
Together we will serve our communities and bring hope!

We encourage all parishioners to participate so that we once again can reach that goal. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. This appeal supports vital ministries across the Diocese and our own parish community. Pledge envelopes are available at the doors of the Church. Envelopes can be placed in the offertory basket.
If you have already pledged, you can expect to receive your first payment reminder on or about May 31^st. Please mail all payments in the self-addressed, return envelope provided with your payment reminder. SATURDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION at St. Polycarp will take place monthly at the Vigil Mass for the Second Sunday of the month. Eucharistic Adoration at St. Dennis Church (Galena MD) will take place on the Fourth Sunday of the month following the 8 am Sunday Mass.

CONNECTED IN CHRIST (ADULT FAITH FORMATION) meets every Tuesday after the 8:30 am Mass in the Parish Library – ALL are welcome. We begin with prayer, then watch a video, usually from FORMED and follow up with a discussion. We close with prayer by 11 am. Come and share your faith with us. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD: Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered every 1^st and 3^rd Sunday of the month during the 10:30 am Mass. This is a wonderful opportunity for children in PreK-4^th grade. It mirrors the worship experience of the larger community in an engaging and interactive style. They will listen to Scripture and engage in discussions about what they have heard at their age level. Children will be called forward before the First Reading and will return to you after the General Intercessions. Our lead catechist is Anna Skinner. She, along with her assistants, have cleared background checks.

GLUTEN FREE? Do you have an intolerance to gluten? If so, our parish offers gluten-free wafers to be consecrated for you. Please see our Sacristan 10 – 15 minutes before Mass and let them know that you need a gluten-free wafer put in the pyx. At Communion, please proceed down the aisle to the priest who will have the pyx in his hand and let him know you need a gluten-free host.

PLANNING PRAYER: Please join our Facilities Planning Committee in prayer as we seek God’s guidance for updating our Parish kitchen. We will be praying the “Planning Prayer” immediately following the Prayer of the Faithful. Prayer cards will be available in the pews. We would encourage you to take one home and pray it there also. THE SMYRNA/CLAYTON MINISTERIUM FOOD PANTRY is located downstairs at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna. The pantry is open from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Monday through Friday. Due to the increased need in the community, the Pantry is in great need of cereal, juice boxes or pouches, peanut butter & jelly, hamburger helper, tuna helper, canned tuna, sloppy joe sauce (Manwich), boxed spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, vegetable beef and chicken noodle soups, macaroni & cheese, and Chef Boyardee canned pastas. No canned vegetables or beans are currently needed. Please, no expired items. Here at St. Polycarp we have bins under the coat rack in the hallway near the bathrooms to accept your donations.

Be with the Spirit and remember to WEAR RED TO MASS THIS WEEKEND, June 7/8, as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Flames of the Holy Spirit rested upon each Apostle as they received the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Easter Season ends this weekend with the celebration of Pentecost.
We return to Ordinary Time on Monday. The Mass setting for Ordinary Time is the Mass of Spirit and Grace. The Memorial Acclamation is “When We Eat this Bread”.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: Maryland’s Catholic bishops provide a framework for responding to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence in a new pastoral letter, “The Face of Christ in a Digital Age,” released to coincide with Pentecost. The signatories include Baltimore Archbishop William E. Lori; Cardinal Robert McElroy, Archbishop of Washington; Wilmington Bishop William Koenig; and the state’s four auxiliary bishops. In their letter, the bishops ask, “Will we allow technology to form us in its image — or will we shape it according to the Gospel?”

MARRIAGE ANNULMENTS: The Tribunal Marriage Annulments – A Ministry of Healing. Tribunal Advocates are appointed by the Bishop to assist divorced parishioners with the marriage annulment process. You are invited to come to the parish meeting room #7 (please ring the bell under the portico, near the office/chapel door) on Monday, June 16^th from 6-7 pm to meet our Tribunal Advocates and to learn about this opportunity of healing. POLYCARP SQUIRE CIRCLE LOCK IN: Once again, this year, the Squires are conducting a “Lock In”. On June 27^thand June 28^th, the Squires will be here at the Parish from 7 pm on Friday until 7 pm on Saturday. The Lock In will conclude with the 4 pm Mass to celebrate and install the new officers for the Columbian year. During these 24 hours, our Squires will participate in prayer, teamwork, and leadership activities. A Rosary will be said in the chapel at least five times, and at 3:20 pm in the Church before 4 pm Mass. Each Rosary will be said for the following worthy causes: pro-life and protection of our unborn, vocations, men and women of our Armed Forces, St. Polycarp parishioners, and our youth. Please remember our Squires in your prayers as they gather for this annual event. The Squires are young boys and young men (ages 10 -18) who desire to deepen their appreciation and love of the Catholic Church. This unique group of Squires is called “Circle”. The Squires work with the Knights of Columbus.

Did you know that the Faith and Charity Appeal helps support Pre-Cana marriage preparation and family life ministries, helping couples and families grow in love and faith?

Please help us raise our participation from 25.33 % to something greater. Join the Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal today. Not everyone can give a large gift, but everyone can participate. We are still $6,258.34 short of our goal of $61,500 in pledges. When our parish reaches its goal in money collected, we receive back half of the money collected over the goal which we can use for our parish. So far, $32,975.26 has been collected.
Together we will serve our communities and bring hope!

We encourage all parishioners to participate so that we once again can reach that goal. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. This appeal supports vital ministries across the Diocese and our own parish community. Pledge envelopes are available at the doors of the Church. Envelopes can be placed in the offertory basket.
If you have already pledged, you can expect to receive your first payment reminder on or about May 31^st. Please mail all payments in the self-addressed, return envelope provided with your payment reminder. SATURDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION at St. Polycarp will take place monthly at the Vigil Mass for the Second Sunday of the month. Eucharistic Adoration at St. Dennis Church (Galena MD) will take place on the Fourth Sunday of the month following the 8 am Sunday Mass.
