LET US PRAY:      Saint Kateri Tekakwitha – The Lily of the Mohawk was beatified in 1980 by Pope John Paul II. The cannonization of Kateri Tekakwitha took place on October 21, 2012. Her feast day is celebrated on July 14.

O Saint Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks,
Your love for Jesus,
so strong, so steadfast,
pray that we may become like you.

Your short and painful life
showed us your strength and humility.
Pray that we may become
forever humble like you.

Like the bright and shining stars at night,
we pray that your light
may forever shine down upon us,
giving light, hope, peacefulness
and serenity in our darkest moments.

Fill our hearts, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
with your same love for Jesus
and pray that we may have the strength and courage
to become one like you in Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen

Weekend Update July 1/2

Loving God,
We greet this Fourth of July with grateful hearts as we call to mind the vision of freedom and justice for all upon which our country was built.

We give thanks for those who imagined this vision.
We are grateful to those who continue advocating for and pursuing a land of peace, liberty and equity for all.
We realize it is still being created, however, as we witness the divisions, prejudices and injustices that plague us.

May we hold fast to the dream and vision of unity within our country.
May we dedicate ourselves to living as brothers and sisters respectful of one another’s dignity and need for equity.
May we also realize the importance of reverencing our earth which provides for and sustains much of our lives.
We give glory and praise to our God and pray that we may always live in harmony as one family.
Amen.
(
~Sr. Rita Ostry, ND)

LET US PRAY:

Dear Father,
I am so thankful for this nation. For all the sacrifices others have made to build and defend this country, I am grateful. Thank you for the opportunities and freedoms we have in the United States of America. Help me never to take these blessings for granted. Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you, Lord. Give me the strength to be a blessing in someone’s life today, and grant me the opportunity to lead others into the freedom that can be found in knowing Jesus Christ. In your name, I pray. Amen.

LET US PRAY:  Prayer for the Summer Solstice

Jesus, thank you for Summer. Thank you for light and warmth. Thank you for the sun. Thank you for the gifts of nature and for the annual cycles and seasons. Today, give us that grace again, to see you as the Creator, the One who lifts us up to be with you forever, even now. Amen.
