PRAYER WALK – This Sunday, August 29 at 6pm. Please join us for our annual Prayer Walk. St. Polycarp Church, along with other churches and schools in our community will gather at their respective locations to pray together for the safety and well-being of everyone returning to school. Our prayers are needed! We will begin with prayer together as a group at 6:00pm in front of the church and then walk around the building together in silent prayer. For those who don’t feel comfortable walking, you may go inside the Church. The church will be open from 6-7pm. In the event of rain, we will meet in the Church at 6pm. Please consider joining our Parish Family & the community of Smyrna in prayer.

DO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT BECOMING CATHOLIC OR RECEIVING THE SACRAMENTS? The RCIA is the process by which persons who were never baptized, baptized in other faith traditions, or baptized Catholic, but not “fully initiated” in the Church through Confirmation and the Eucharist become full members of the Catholic Church, a people on pilgrimage to our Heavenly Father.  An RCIA Inquiry Session will take place Monday evening, August 30th  in the Parish Library at 6:30 pm.  For information, please contact Deacon Frank Weber at DeaconFrank@saintpolycarp.org or leave a message with the Parish office at (302) 653 – 8279.

FIRST FRIDAY: Join us next Friday, September 3rd, to pray the Rosary before Mass, Mass at 8:30 am, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Sacred Heart Novena.

FROM THE PARISH OFFICE: Please be aware that some emails sent from the office staff this week were being blocked by certain email providers (yahoo, aol, etc.).  These emails were legitimate and sent from us, so if you were expecting an email from one of us, please check your Junk or Spam folders, it might be in there.  Depending on your email provider, you can add ‘@saintpolycarp.org’ to your list of allowed email addresses so you will receive emails from us in your Inbox.

BACK-UP LITURGICAL MINISTRY SCHEDULER: The Liturgy Committee is in need of back-up personnel for their various ministries.  They need someone to fill-in for Frank Patton who schedules the Liturgical Ministers for the various Masses. The back-up would fill in if Frank were to get sick, etc.  Frank is willing to teach that person how he does the scheduling. Scheduling is usually done on a monthly basis.  If you are interested, please contact Kathy MacDonald at (302) 653 – 8976, Linda Mood at (302) 653 – 6852, or see Kathy and Linda after Mass.

REGISTRATION FOR PSR:  If you have not registered your child(ren), please do so now. We are finalizing plans for the year ahead and it is extremely important that we know how many children will be in each grade. LET US PRAY: Prayer of St. Patrick
Christ be with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ with in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ where I lie, Christ where I sit, Christ where I arise, Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in the ear that hears me. Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is of the Christ. May your salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.

Amen.
