Weekend Update July 9/10

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.

  – Have you ever considered God’s Law as something within your heart?
  – In light of today’s Gospel, should you reconsider your openness to granting mercy to others?
  – Why is it not enough to obey the law?

MARRIAGE MOMENTS: Sunday July 10: Of course my spouse is my closest neighbor; but often, because we are so close, it can be tempting to take each other for granted. Don’t overlook your beloved’s needs today. Be compassionate.

PARENTING POINTERS: Sunday July 10: As your children mature and become emerging adults the way you share your faith must mature also. Their questions may deepen your faith. That is good.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha – July 14

O Great Lily of the Mohawks, we ask that you take our intentions to the foot of the cross. Ask Jesus to bring healing to those who are heavily burdened. Through your intercession, may this favor be granted if it is according to the will of God. By your prayer, help us always to remain faithful to Jesus and to his Holy Church. St. Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us. Amen.
